Floyd Mayweather’s Guide to Successful Online Business

Hey, if you know Floyd Mayweather, I am sure you are eager to learn from his guide to building and running successful online business. Before I reveal that to you, let me put everyone on the same pedestal by giving a little bit information about Floyd Mayweather. According to Wikipedia, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (born Floyd Joy Sinclair, February 24, 1977) is an American professional boxer. At the time of writing this post, he is undefeated in 48 fights as a professional and is a five-division world champion, having won eleven world titles and the lineal championship in four different weight classes. In addition to this, he is currently the highest paid athlete in the world.

Floyd Mayweather has some things to teach you about building and running successful online business. Anyways, this is not directly. However, since our focus on this blog is to teach as many people as we can how to run successful online businesses, I learned these things from the boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao (another professional boxer) and Floyd Mayweather on the 2nd/3rd of May 2015. These things will help you to build and run a successful online business. What I learned is so exhaustive but I’m going to make it as short and understandable as much as possible.

1. Be Professional

Be professional in everything you do with your online business. Every simple thing you do has a great effect on how your clients will respond to your business. If you are just one of a kind with those who are unprofessional, you will lose more than you gain online. Being professional involves everything about your online business – website, contents, images, sales emails, phone calls, customer service, prospecting, choice of words and lots more. Have fun but handle everything with utmost professionalism.

2. Choose your Online Business Products/Services wisely

Floyd has been turning down this fight with Manny for like 5 years. Manny has fought 57 matches in this category and lost or drew only 5 of them. While Floyd had fought and won all 47 matches in the same category (minus the recent fight). You may ask why did he do that when he has never lost a fight in that category? He kept doing that because he was busy studying Manny’s style of fight.

As a business owner, not everything that glitters is gold. It’s stupid to create products/services for your online business without studying your market and your competitors. You are bound to lose if you don’t take time to study and then choose your business products/services wisely. People don’t care about the amount of effort, time, money etc you put into producing the product/service, what they care about is what’s in the product/service for me and why should I buy your product/service and not someone else’s. You need time and dedication to really know these. And when you do, your clients will buy your products/services more than you expect at the expense of your competitors.

3. Getting Results is what matters

Floyd threw very few punches that earn him the results (points) to win. However, Manny was busy throwing plenty many punches which earn him few points. Your online business site’s pageviews doesn’t matter. Your sales page click through rates doesn’t matter. Your daily activities for your online business doesn’t matter so much. What matters is big profits! Don’t get carried away by all the stats. Be conscious of your online business’ profits. Get busy doing what matters. Don’t just throw punches, make sure they earn you results. As long as you don’t command results, your online business is classified as not-successful.

4. Overnight Success is a sham, a BS

So many people said they want to become a boxer simply because of what people would pay to watch the fight between Manny and Floyd. And also because of what each boxer stand to earn from the fight. I am not against dreaming big dreams. But a dream based on the concept of overnight success never sees the light of the day. It gets buried in the night. As a business owner, you will face tough challenges. You can either overcome them or be defeated by them. If your mindset is based on overnight success, you are already defeated. To save yourself from that concept, you need to set achievable online business goals. You can put them on a 30 days, 60 days or 90 days time span. Achieving your set business goals is real success.

5. Your critics are your idea generators.

If you don’t like to be criticized, then your online business is not ready to grow successfully. Criticism are either good or bad, but the way you handle them determines it’s benefits for your business. When people criticize you and your business, don’t respond with just words, respond with actions. Respond with results. Nothing silences your critics like results. You can only get these results if you know how to turn their criticism into idea generators for your online business. There are lots of things to learn from your critics. Either you win or lose, people will still talk. Why not use the ideas they give and turn it into results that would make them evangelists for your online business?

  1. Boss, you’re well on point on this one – really strategic title and well crafted article – well done.

Few punches that land have always been Mayweather’s strategy. He’s more accurate than every challenger he’s had and like you rightly said, concentrating on those few punches that earn one online profits matters most.

In any case, online business is good, but it is not too late to start training to become a boxer on the side. What do you say?

    1. LOL. I don’t have anything to say about becoming a boxer on the side đŸ˜‰

It’s a good profession with few successes.
