As today marks the beginning of the last days of the year 2009, I bring to you my celebrity of the year. He is a Patriotic Nigerian and well known to many people in Nigeria and in the world at large. My celebrity of the year is someone whose life has impacted so many lives and much more in 2009. I came to know him in 2007 because I found someone who has depth already in my passion for seeing the New and better Nigeria. It was until the early months of 2008 that I met him in person. I must tell you, ever since then, I have not remained the same. My celebrity of the year functions as my one of my most respected mentor, prophet, motivator, inspiration, developer, helper, shoulder to climb on amongst many things that this little space will not permit me to list.
When the thought of doing this article came to me, I asked my celebrity of the year and this is what we said;

Me: Yes sir. Lol…I will make that happen on Sunday
My celebrity: ok
I could not make it happen on Sunday but here it is today Monday. He is worth more than my personality of the month. Who is the celebrity that I am referring to? Before I let you know who he is, I need you to know that this article might be long but it is worth the read. You will be glad that you spent your quality time to read this quality post. This is one of the quality articles I write on my blog.
My celebrity of the year is no other person than Mr. Adeolu Akinyemi. He is someone I can boldly refer to as a genius. It has been said amongst his friends and colleagues that “Anything Deolu is involved in is worthy to be done by others.” This simply means that his doing a thing (business, investment, charity, intellectual property, network marketing, real estate, and many more) is a leveler for many people to get involved in such a thing. In addition to this, he is a business leader, social entrepreneur, trainer, writer, career coach, direct and network marketer, human resources expert, business development consultant, financial empowerment consultant, innovator, visionary and most importantly patriotic Nigeria (in words, thoughts and deeds).
My celebrity of the year is one of the most influential young people (he is in his early 30’s) in Nigeria. He is also one of the foremost brand in Nigeria on account of his personal development blog, www.deoluakinyemi.com. He is currently the chief coordinator and founder of the New Nigeria Club (a club dedicated to building up of a critical mass of Nigerians that will bring forth a New Nigeria in her fullness. They will be people easy to rule and difficult to enslave), Managing Director of Generis Solution (an outfit dedicated to partner with people and organizations to create and implement solutions that lead to growth and development…), CEO of Nairahost (Nigeria’s number 1 webhosting company) and West African Leader and driver of Holidays and Cash Ltd (a network marketing company dedicated to give her members the opportunity to own their Lives and live on the best side of life). He does all these with complete integrity.
He didn’t start this way though. He is a graduate of Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He was exceptional in this course that he graduated as one of the best students. He then made a deliberate choice to follow his heart – people and organizational development. This is what has brought him so much fame and made him to have so much impact in people and organizations. In his journey to where he is now, he had had stints with Procter and Gamble Nigeria Ltd, and Virgin Nigeria. He was among the pioneer team involved in building Virgin Nigeria from stratch and setting up people’s system. He has since left ‘9 to 5’ jobs since 2006.
Right from his days in Obafemi Awolowo University to Procter and Gamble to Virgin Nigeria and to where he is at the moment, he has won so many awards for his excellent character and for the exceptional services he renders. This includes the award he won with the Future Awards as the corporate professional of the year for 2006. He also won many awards this year. One of them is the Most Outstanding Young Entrepreneur for the year 2009. This was given to him by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Nigeria.
My celebrity of the year has gone through much training that has shaped his life for the benefit of himself, his family, his nation, his friends, his followers and many more people around him. It will interest you to know that he didn’t start out on a platter of gold. He has sold bread on the streets before. He has functioned in the role of a barber before. These are just few of the things he has gone through. In short, he has tasted the bitter part of life just like many out there. He didn’t stop at that. Today, he is one of the people who have stepped into the best part of life. His life and has won many to Christ and that I am VERY proud of. He is not a nominal Christian. He represents Christ in his words, thoughts and deeds.
He has featured as a speaker in so many conferences, seminars et all. He has raised so many people to a better level in different schools. I can go on and on and write more about my celebrity of the year. He is too much to be documented on a page of any blog. You will know him better by getting more in touch with him. My celebrity of the year is a husband to Mrs. Temitope Adeolu-Akinyemi and a father to two wonderful kids – Ireoluwa and Araoluwa
