Anatomy of an Advanced AI Humanoid Robot

An Artificially Intelligent humanoid Robot is a robot with Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities that is built to resemble the human body. Humanoid Robots are essentially built to perform activities such as interacting with human tools, and performing human tasks.

Generally, AI humanoid robots have a head, two eyes, two ears, two arms, and two legs. Advanced AI humanoid robots have these and more. The anatomy of these advanced humanoid robots is described below.

The Anatomy of An Advanced AI Humanoid Robot

Eyes
Advanced humanoid robots have binocular eye-mounted cameras. These cameras are able to detect and track faces and identify genders, emotions, and ages. The embedded high definition cameras allows the robots to make constant eye contact when having conversations.

Ears
These robots have binaural ear-mounted microphones that allow them to hear, carry out voice recognition and offer a response through a speaker.

Arms
Advanced humanoid robots have different articulated movements of their arms. This allows them to make gestures during conversations.

Chest
These robots have cameras mounted in the centre of their chest. The camera is used by the advanced robots for perceiving distance, closeness to other objects, and also for human recognition.

Skin
The advanced humanoid robots have sensors around their body (made of silicon) that allows them to identify and track movements (of people) around them.

Face
Advanced AI humanoid robots do have facial expressions like anger, smiles, surprise, worry etc. This is made possible through the lots of motors in their face which allows them to form different facial expressions.

An Advanced Humanoid Robot

A prime example of advanced humanoid robot is Ameca, dubbed as the world’s most advanced humanoid robot. Ameca was designed to look and act like a human. For now, Ameca is purely for educational purposes.

Ameca can have conversations with humans due to its AI capabilities. It is essentially a human in digital form. Its eyes are hand-painted like a real human eye. Its face stretches and move so as to mimic the human face.

Ameca is the culmination of 15 years work by developers at Engineered Arts.
