Nigeria to Partner IAEA on Water Resources Mangement

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed determination to partner with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the management of Water Resources in Nigeria. Minister of Water Resources Mrs. Sarah Ochekpe said in Abuja when she met with the Deputy Director of the agency, Mr. Kwaku Aning that the Ministry had benefited a lot from the activities of the IAEA through the National Hydrologic Service Agency (NIHSA). Nigeria: ₦79.2 Billion Grant For Agriculture Projects

THE World Bank has approved a $495.3 million (about ₦79.2 billion) International Development Association (IDA) credit to aid agricultural produce in Nigeria. The bank in a statement to The Guardian, at the weekend, said the grant is aimed at improving farmers’ access to irrigation and drainage services, strengthen institutional arrangements for integrated water resources management and improve delivery of agricultural services in selected, large-scale public schemes in northern Nigeria. 5 Million USD for Rural Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion in Nigeria

The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council through the Global Sanitation Fund has provided the sum of five million Us Dollars ($5,000,000) to implement rural sanitation and hygiene promotion in Nigeria. The Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Reng Ochekpe disclosed this on Monday 16th June, 2014 while signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) and two benefiting States – Cross River and Benue State Governments.
