Gombe State, located in the northeastern part of Nigeria, is one of Nigeria’s 36 states; its capital is Gombe. The boundaries of the state roughly correspond to those of the Tangale-Waja Chiefdom and Gombe Emirate, a traditional state. According to a comment I received by a reader living in Gombe, he stated that Gombe needs needs the government intervention to boost trade.
Here is his (Odoabuchi Emmanuel Davids) comment as posted here
The “youwin” approach is a brilliant and welcome development in this present Nigeria. i wish that those of us in north-eastern Nigeria can benefit from this youwin programme to boost our businesses. I am an interior decorator in Gombe state with so many apprentices under me. some of the senior apprentices who have already learn the trade are now been paid for their services to the business, but there is a serious difficulty in maintaining the statusquo as businesses are not moving well as they used to in the past, due largely to the security situation of the region. However, we in Gombe state are bettter placed than other north-eastern states, but we do need governments intervention to boost our trade and continue to accomodate apprentices as well as employ some after their graduation from learning the trade.
So, after getting his comment, I went ahead to search for Gombe state’s official website and I found this – http://www.gombestate.gov.ng/. The website contains the information about what the government of Gombe State has achieved. If you are from Gombe reading this, you could check out the site and get in touch with your government.
