If We Achieve the Global Goal 6 by 2030

The global goal 6 is to “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. Many of us don’t think twice about turning on a tap to get clean water, but for 750 million people worldwide that’s not an option. Our grandparents’ generation created an amazing system of canals and reservoirs that made it possible for people to live in places where there wasn’t a lot of water. For example, during the Great Depression, they created the Hoover Dam, which in turn, created Lake Mead and made it possible for the cities of Las Vegas and Phoenix and Los Angeles to provide water for people who lived in a really dry place. The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

I’ve just signed ONE.org’s petition asking world leaders to prioritise support for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. Will you join me? Since 2002, the Global Fund has saved more than 17 million lives. No one should die from a preventable and treatable disease, no matter where they live. The Global Fund to fight AIDS etc is on a path to save 22 million lives by 2016 and can do even more, but it won’t happen without the funding it needs next year. Continue reading
