Finally, it is real that Michael Jackson is gone. Anyway, his songs will definitely live after him. As i was watching his memorial yesterday, one thing that was going through my mind was that, there must be a message for me or a lesson for me to hold from watching his memorial. I couldn’t put my mind in one place because of the emotions that filled the show. I held myself up despite the words from the lips of most people that said one thing or the other about Michael Jackson. I couldn’t hold for too long when Paris Jackson pulled the trigger that caused tears in my eyes.
Her words were:
“I just want to say ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you can ever imagine,” she said through tears. “And I just want to say I love him so much.”
Indeed, Michael Jackson was a father to many children around the world. He had impact in so many people’s life. I remember some years back, in homes, schools or wherever, a party is never concluded without playing Michael Jackson’s songs. There were lots of guys who mimicked him but never did like him. I remember one of my uncles who where trousers like M.J used to, he also dances like him. Indeed, Wacko Jacko set the bar and broke the bar. There can never be somebody like him ever.
I know about M.J’s story. I know what he went through. I have watched so many videos about Michael Jackson. He started into the world of music at a very tender age with so much push from his father. He never had a good time as a kid. He knows this and he does says it always. He did his best to give to children the kind of life he never had as a kid. This showed in his songs and his care for kids. Well, some not too good people saw this and used it against him.
I love Michael Jackson, no doubt. I have been inspired by most of his songs. I have listened to most of his songs on radios to nudge myself to sleep in the night. Just to mention a few. There are lot of lessons to learn about Michael Jackson. One of the lessons is what i am here to discuss about.
I have listened to his song titled “Man in the Mirror“. It is full of meaning to me and so many other people. The theme of the song is CHANGE. No matter what we are doing in life, we must continually live with the consciousness that we are born to make a change. We are here to make a difference. Things cannot just continue to be the same always. It is only fools that do nothing to make a change. Life itself in designed on the grounds of change. We would never have butterflies if there were no metamorphosis.
There are kids on the Street with not enough to eat. Who are we, to be blind? Pretending not to see their needs. There are countless issues which need to be changed for the better. We can’t just sit back and relax when everything we see around us needs a change. We can’t afford to neglect making a change. What we neglect will always find us out to do us evil. The small weed we don’t clear today will become so strong to remove tomorrow. Why not solve the problems when it is easy that waiting for it to become harder.
I live in a country where most of our problems are due to negligence. We see what is wrong and we point accusing fingers to some sect of people. We claim that they are meant to do it. Changes always start from us and we must realize that before it’s too late. You might say, what will my act amount to. I am glad to let you know, the good we do here and there will go a long way to become great. It is better to try than not to try at all.
Now, i’m starting with the man i see always when i look into the mirror. I’m asking him to change his ways. If he truly wants to make the world a better place. He should take a look at himself carefully, consider his ways, and then make a change inwardly before going to make a change somewhere else. It’s time I realize like never before that there are so many with no home, not a nickel to loan, not a food to eat, not a school to go to amongst other things. I must stop pretending that they are not alone. I must do what i need to do on my own part and make a change starting from the next person to me. I’ve got to sit up tight and make that change daily.
Life is not about what we get from it. It is all about what we contribute to it. It is what we give to life that makes us truly living beings. We can’t continue to play dead to the needs of life. As much as we look up to reach ahead, we must look back and help to bring up somebody up. I remember the words of the person that took the closing prayer on Michael Jackson’s memorial. He pointed out that it’s time to go beyond race and religion and make that change that we ought to make.
I know i am not alone in this. I am making a call for change agents, agents of reformation, world changers amongst others. We have sat back enough, it’s time we live the change we believe in. It’s time. It is not today, it has started yesterday and now we must live it as long as it is today. In whatever you do, do good unto others. Always seek the good of others. It doesn’t matter what they say about you, as long as you are doing good, continue in it.
Let’s be the change and make the change we believe in. Till we all come to the fulfillment of the change we desire, i remain an agent of change – a Kingdom Promoter, Inspirational writer/speaker, Nation Builder and a Giver of Life.
Love you still

funny enough the curiosity of the title of the song made me listen to the song yesterday , and I watched a stage performance where he did the song , it was awesome ,he showed so much passion that he was talking about change
MJ is a philanthropist an eptitone of peace ,he did so much charity ,he was very rich and he gave out so much ,
it’s our call now , the man in the mirror is you and I , IF YOU WANNA MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF AND MAKE A CHANGE

@Funmi..Of a truth, the campaign for CHANGE is the most thing i like about M.J. That is the chief reason why i’ve been following his songs. Heal the World, We are the World and others to mention a few.
He was indeed passionate about CHANGE. That’s why he went on tours to deliver his passion through songs.
We all need to make the World a better place and MAKE THAT CHANGE.
Thanks for coming here.
