Look for the Honey!

Authors Dan Sullivan and Catherine Nomura explained in their book, “The Laws of Lifetime Growth” that “continual learning is essential for lifetime growth”. You can have a great deal of experience and be no smarter for all the things you have done, seen and heard.

Experience alone is no guarantee of lifetime growth. If you regularly transform your experiences into new lessons, you will make each day of your life a source of growth. The smartest people transform events into breakthroughs in thinking and action. Look at all of life as a school and everyday experience as a lesson, and your learning will always be greater than your experiences.

We attend meetings designed to help us learn, then we do nothing with what we have heard after closing our notebooks. Don’t get excited about a learning event, get excited about learning. You have not really learned it until you have applied it.

A few days after slaying a lion, Samson returned to the scene of victory and discovered two things in the carcass: 1. bees that sting and 2. honey that tastes sweet. In life, move beyond the pain and look for the honey. No matter what you are experiencing now, it’s all for your growth only if you see it that way.

Imagine a life without pain? Imagine a life without challenges? Imagine a life without failure staring in your very eyes? You can live that life if only you look for the honey that sweets and not the bees that sting. You will see ONLY what you expect. Expect the best and work towards it.

And finally, remember, you would need to look beyond and ahead of the bees that sting before you can get the honey that sweets. No bees sting, no honey. No pain, no gain…
